Wow. What to say about an amazing weekend??! I am so blessed to have this life and such wonderful sisters in Christ that I can do crazy things with, laugh for hours with, and pour out my heart to. Just a glimpse of this weekend...
Thursday (when I should have been packing) I took off to the Columbia Gorge with some Roth relations (ahhhhh crazy girls!! love them!!) and some other sisters visiting for the weekend. It started out rainy and we did a quick stop at the Vista House and Multnomah Falls before heading to Oneonta Gorge ... prepared to get wet!
You can hardly explain the craziness of this hike.. a 15 foot log jam, a riverbed hike through water up to your chest, and a rushing waterfall pool at the end. It is gorgeous and tons of fun, even when it is hardly 65 degrees outside and you are sloshing through 50 degree water--ahhhh!!!
But of course when you get to the waterfall, you can't really stop there. Might as well just get totally soaked and jump off the rocks into water too deep to touch!! What a rush... (except for when you lose your headcovering and know it's not gonna be found, or when you must now trudge BACK through chest-deep water that hasn't gotten any warmer, OR when you then have to change clothes in a creepy cave on the side of the road... yes we did).
Friday I drove down to Eugene to pick up my dive gear that had been serviced and to get the Phoenix group from the airport. Then we headed to Portland (all 7 of us in my suburban) to downtown Portland which involved lunch from food carts, Powell's, lots of walking, lots of coffee, 6 person bikes along the waterfront, and ice cream (those bikes are harder than you think!).
Then we headed to PDX to pick up another good friend before going to Dallas' for the beginning of the labor day weekend.
You just can't explain these weekends and how great they are. I had so many wonderful one-on-one conversations that just encouraged me in my walk with Jesus and brought me closer to my sisters-in-Christ. It is so cool that we can have these relationships with people we have just met or barely know, and our hearts are linked so closely in Christ. I cannot even say how great this weekend this was.. how many new friends.. how many laughs.. and how many girls I "clicked" with so fast it is not even funny--- now we're planning trips on how we can get together again and do more crazy stuff!!
Some of those girls are from Rittman and of course when we realized we were all the adventurous type, we were instant friends. So when the brothers' backs were turned....
What fun. Can't wait to see where God will bring these girls and these friendships in my life.!!
I'm a twenty-something from the Pacific NW making home in new places as I follow where God leads.
My intent is to show Christ's love to the world and use business to solve some of the social problems we face: hunger, illiteracy, healthcare, economic hardship. For now, I'm in a stage of learning. A little adventuring, a few books, some good friends, and a whole lot of prayer and life runs on.
